I understand that must people do see the term as an endearment towards a friend(s). i think that the main point that he is trying to make is that ppl have to understand WHERE the word come from and who may be insulted by the word. Maybe a younger generation would not understand but older african americans DO still feel that pain and the negative that is associated with that word. You have to realize that it was only 40 years ago that we intergrated and nigger still had a negative context.

Actually, I beg to differ. I did NOT miss the point of this piece, actually I interpreted the piece quite well. I just STATED what most of us know as truth, but are too afraid to say because of impressionalists like yourself. No need to preach to ME about the importance of this piece, I'm very well engrossed--TRUST. But, it is TRUE that the term is often expressed as a term of endearment...and, to me, changing the whole origin of something is also AMAZING.

You do realize you just completely missed the point of this right? You're the kind of person Mr. Curry is speaking out against. You have no reason to praise this poem, and you doing so is quite insulting.

This piece is AMAZING. However, it is my opinion that when used by "us" the word "Nigga" can and is often expressed as a term of endearment. In my opinion, although the word was created to slander and oppress, we have, as with the many other forms of hate and oppression, have made the word into something much more powerful than the roots of its origin. And although I may say "wassup my nigga", there exists love behind the phrase. And the rest is simply habitual... lol...*snaps* though.

Man, you don't get it. This guy is brilliant, nothing was said that shouldn't have been said. How often do you hear kids say that word, or hear it in songs daily? It comes off like the word fork or computer after you hear it so many times. That's why he gave you the history and kept repeating it. He wanted to change your point of view in the duration of that poem. He wanted to take you from the that jaded point of view where it's just another word, to cringing when he said it towards the end.

Because you're too stupid to understand why he's allowed to say that word in that poem. I guess wisdom doesn't come with age. 27 years old, and you're as ignorant and stupid as an 8 year old. Get off your xbox and read a book.
