$30,000 annually borders on poverty if you live in Quebec. The province is also the highest taxed in the western world. Quebec would die on its own but you probably believe the bullshit from Pauline Marois and the Q-tip in Ottawa (Duceppe). Sad.

Talking about producing goods rather than whining, Quebec's GDP per capita is about $30,000, which, you will find, is more than enough to maintain a high standard of living. And you'll have to explain to me how having success in France means one's career is sad and troubled. I hope you didn't except a francophone singer to have success all around the globe, they tend to appeal mostly to people who understand their lyrics.

First, welfare is essentially the same as chomage since neither are working. Scandinavia and New Zealand actually work and produce goods rather than whining all the time that the big bad English are the source of all of Quebec's problems. Some success in France? You just proved my point, merci.

Me I speak french and english and a the "word with the f" it's writing like this: phoque and phoque it's seal in english!

Never said it wasn't simply respect the fact that we speak french and you could try a little bit you too ;)

Lots to say. First, review your sources, 1.5m people on chomage, which does not include welfare... you're saying the unemployment rate is over 21%.Second of all, 7 million people isn't enough to make a country run? Look at the populations of Scandinavia and New Zealand. And third, I hope by locally you also mean France, since he did meet with some success there. Of course not as much as in Quebec, and I do wonder if you realize how famous he is here...

If you don't want to speak English, then get out of Canada...but you won't because you would die as a nation of 6 million people (less than the city of Chicago alone) and over 1.5M on chomage. wake up and smell the coffee.

His career is a sad little close-in career that could oinly sell records locally, and not many either. He even chastized Celine Dion for "selling out" (you know, the ever-whining "vendu")because she sang in English, and made millions, which he could not do becuase he is unilingual French. Given my three university degrees, with one from UQAM, speak ENglish, French, Spanish, and German, I surely can make such as statement.

There are two problems with your statement. First, you assume that anglos feel welcome enough to even want to spend money in Quebec.Second, and here's the wake-up call, french is the first language of only 1/5 of the population of Canada! THAT means that, contrary to your post, that french is not the equal of English. That means you have to accept your language is a minority language.
FunnyFantom (December 31, 1969 at 5:59 pm)
That's not the point. If you don't want to speak French, fine with me. But don't come in Quebec and then, for example, order something in english. When US les Québécois enter a shop in Ontario we speak French... But when YOU come in Quebec, you don't even try to speak French and THAT IS the problem I have.
