the electricity flows between the electrode and the ground clamp if you stick your hand between the two you will get shocked...

I am very interested in going to college for wet welding. I have gone to college for two years and have gotten my associates degree yada yada and am trying to find out as much about this as I can so I obviously dont know everything there is to know ha. But someone please correct me on this but once the welder asks for the electrode to become "hot" aren't you not suppose to touch the electrode because you will be shocked? I just noticed the welder in this video do just that.
