Martin Scorsese says the phrases "...to a certain extent" and "...in a way" more than anyone I've ever heard. I love this guy because he never worries about using the best words to articulate his movies, as long as people get the point. He doesn't have to act as or pretend to be a genius; he is one already! I hope he lives to be 100. His films are sometimes all Hollywood has in the genius realm of film today.

you're berating a poster on youtube. if you really understand the words you're throwing around, they'd be better utilized elsewhere. youtube forums are not the arena for 10 dollar words. go waste them on a college thesis or something.

Mr. Scorsese knows the language of film better than anyone. He is a master of all a camera has to offer. He is an expert with actors and he is also quite good at choosing his material. I think the latter is the most important quality. Not many visual artists pick their projects as well as this guy. Nick Cage picks well too. Not a surprise. "Bringing Out the Dead" is a masterpiece by a director who has about 10 masterpieces.I love you Marty. I know your in Taunton as I write this good luck!!
