Amistad - Theatrical Trailer

"Freedom is not given. It is our right at birth. But there are some moments when it must be taken". Despite mixed reviews and an unsuccessful theatrical run, Steven Spielberg's courtroom drama features memorable performances from Djimon Hounsou (in his breakthrough role) and Sir Anthony Hopkins (who received an Oscar nod for his portrayal of John Quincy Adams). Others have taken slaves during ancient times but the west did it in a more systematic way, until recent times. 1800s were the times of your great grand father ! Not very long ago !

The only reason they show a white person as the hero is because that is the the way it really happened. No, racism did not end when slavery did and it does still exist today, but in America we can definatly say that we have come a long ways in terms of not judging people based on skin color.

Why do they always gotta have a white man as the hero ? What the FUCK ? White people did end slavery. Oh and once slavery ended. racism just stopped....Right ?
