well it was intense BUT if u watched PAVAROTTI performance of it....no need to add anything more...no comparison, even without the incredible setting and staging Pavarotti uniquely with his voice reached the zenith of ecstasy

You must be perfect as an angel, no?

This is actually very impressive! I've read a lot of criticism of Alagna, but here he gives a very moving performance!

It's from a movie "Tosca" directed by Benoit Jacquot (2001).

I used not to be a great fan of Roberto Alagna, but this has changed my mind. Gone are the histrionics of Pavarotti and co: Alagna is altogether more subtle. Moreover his diction is perfect; as a non-Italian speaker I can hear every syllable! Five stars for me. (help -where do I put the rating!)

I love your point! sometimes in a live performance the acting is very dramatic and intence, then it really doesn´t matter if a note/a tone is not so perfect sung. One can forget about a weak or shaky note, but one will always, sometimes for a lifetime, remember a moving and dramatic scene on stage.

Not bad, not bad at all.

Exactly. Opera is drama, it must have depth and must tell a story. A singer may have a beautiful voice and impeccable technique but if he/she doesn't tell any story, than it's not worth much. Alagna knows how to tell a story, and that's the most important.
