I do agree that the U.S. media usualy portrays Latinos as either mestizos or mulattoes, but I don't see anything wrong with that, since the majority of Spanish-speaking Latin America is mixed-race anyway. But I guess it would be nice to see some actual black Hispanic and Asian Hispanic characters in television too.

Eddie Cibrian is a white Cuban American, and he is portrayed as a Latino in Ugly betty.Brazilians in general are not considered Latins in the USA nor in Brazil, just like Haitians.I don't consider myself Latino, I consider myself Brazilian, Latin American, or South American, but not Latin, since Braizlians ar enot considered Latinos in neither the USA or Brazil.

Venezuelans are way too hot. And it is better if the U.S. American media portray latin America like if they were mexicans. I dont want a big wave of U.S. American males emigrating to Venezuela after they realize how many beauties there are over there. I Support the Euro immigration to Venezuela though...

The Main actress from The Gilmore Girls is Argentinian and they dont refer to her as latin... U.S. Americans kind of portray latin americans as Brown mexicans..

I dont know about that marllon. But I am sure of 1 thing.U.S. Americans portray latin americans in their tv shows as if they were brown mexicans, and that does not portray the real population of latin america. And if they have a latin Actor who is a white latin actor in their movies...they dont talk about that subject and they dont address the person the actor "as latin". An example:Cameron Diaz "Cuban/German",Gisselle Bundchen,Andy Garcia,Charlie Sheen (Charlie Estevez).

Yes, I did know about Mariah Carey being of Venezuelan descent. Univision and Telemundo not only has Mexican soap operas, they have Colombian, Venezuelan, Peruvian, Argentine, Chilean, and Dominican soap operas as well, and I have never seen a black or mulatto i any of the soap operas imported from the aforementioned countries.
