The words and music are doing just what the record is about. Evoking war that is next to criminal and what to do about it. Yes it is good music but it has not a light-hearted subject. If you find yourself on a line somewhere about to get killed at any moment you'll be asking for a whole lot of justice. The song will not bring about justice just saying "great song I like the music."

So what was GWB's excuse for deserting his unit during the Vietnam war? Hell he couldn't even produce an order relieving hiM of duty after he served his TX AirNG in trying to establish when and where he served. I have every order issued to me and he couldn't find his discharge ORDERS!!!! So your answer about what Viet Name has to GWB: DESERTION during war.

There were 2 Spartans that Leonidas ordered to retreat because both had serious eye ailmets & couldn't fight. One ordered his servant to lead him to the Spartan line & died with 1000 other Greeks. For a year the lone Spartan traveled about Greece asking for "fire & water" i.e. acceptance. He was simply known as the "Coward." He redeemed his error at Thermopylae by dying in the front line at Plataea. GWB is a coward so low he couldn't hold a candle to light this lone Spartan's way.

This is my absolute favorite song by Billy Joel, so well done and gives me goosebumps (and usually makes me bawl). I can't imagine the hellish conditions that these men endured, and not all came home alive. Kennoetzel, RIGHT ON BROTHER!!! I completely agree with your post!!!!! What r u idiots writing about bush for - he has absolutely fucking nothing to do with vietnam - nothing to do with this great song. What is this about - look at the fucking video. Every fucking kid u see there was in hell - I put some of them in a stinkin zippered body bag - they came home in pieces to loving relatives.
