We can argue back and forth whether or not Cortez made a bad call. For me, the bigger issue is Lorenzo's Oscar winning performance. It's fighters like this that give REAL fighters a bad name. And the fact that he showed no shame and continues to show absolutely no shame for taking the easy way out rather that go out on his shield like a real man is embarrassing.

what logic are you basing that on. Come on and be fair yourself. He followed the rules and if he did not he would have broken the rules. He did his job well and he is taking a whole lot of abuse for it. Again go to abc unified boxing rules then tell me he did not follow the rules he was hired to enforce. Don't blame him for doing his job!!! Especially after the doctors told him that the fighter could not continue due to the blow behind the head. This was supported by the Commision too.

The doctor's told Joe that the fighter could not continue due to a concussive blow to the head. Blame the doctor's or blame the fighter But respect the man that enforces the rules and makes the decisions that he was hired to do. It's a tough job to have but he did his job well. Had Joe made any other decision after the doctors told him that the fight could not continue then Joe would have done something wrong. He knew it would not be a popular decision but it was the honest and right one.

I am a big boxing fan and I follow the sport thoroughly. I was quick to criticize Joe for his performance. I must confess and apologize deeply for my ignorance of not knowing the ABC Unified rules. It was questionable about the stoppage but I had to look up the rules myself and I am glad I did because I am now more educated and will not be so quick to criticize the referee's until I check out the rules. Your job as a referee is to follow the rules and you followed them to a T.
