Gounod took the Bach Prelude and composed this version of Ave Maria into it.

That is fantastic. Bravo Monsieur Andre. Harp is an excellent choice for these two wonderful pieces. HMMM...maybe I should use Eb trumpet for the Gounod Ave Maria.

Gounod's ave Maria is a meditation about Bach's Prelude in C minor. The composer recognises that is an arrangement. He took the prelude as an acompanniament and put the melodic line above it. The result is...amazing.

Am I the only one that thinks that the Gounod version sounds too much like Bach's Prelude in C. In some parts they sound identical.
