He doesn't, if you have a look at the sheet music, he plays a LOT more than you actually notice over the other instruments, plus haven't you noticed the speedy descending modes he plays towards the end of the song?Besides, even if he DID only play 1 note every 2 seconds, the emotion and style he puts into his performance would still render him an amazing pianist.
