Plus, she is thinking of him so much that those around her don't seem to exist - hence the wax dummies metaphor.

It almost seems like he is out late and she is at home bored out of her skull. Then, when he does get home, they yell at each other, so he leaves her. Afterwards, she is so upset, she goes out late and thinks of him and doesn't know who she will meet - "Who's gonna drive you home, tonight?"
