I still believe most communities oppress people immensely, and i personally feel that anyone, anywhere, who feels like they're treated unfairly deserves to be given a chance to govern themselves. Malcolm gave many people the power to be inspired, and we are all better people for absorbing the echo of this great man who had once lived to fight for freedom and clarify to us, the institutions of injustice to uncover the truth of many facets of american oppression. May the spirit of malcolm live!

I would argue that pointing out who is harming them IS focusing on "improving their own lot." how can a people improve upon their standing when there are those of us who would denigrate them by calling them "nigger."
