1. you can inherit the way of the shaman from for example your grandfather. 2. you can start to practice it and offer a gift to a shaman in exchange to learn the way of the shaman. 3. And this is the most powerful of them all something \happpens\ in your life that changes your entire look at things and the spirit worlds are opened to you, the spirits choose you and then you enter the way of the shaman

Yes, but i believe if you work to be as pure and full of love as a man or a woman can be, the spirits would welcome you. True power comes from one place, and one place only, and thats our heart. :)But then again, this is my belief. :)
