If you think about it, you have orders of magnitude more processing power in your mobile phone than they did in the whole space craft!! Incredible!

this was a camera designed and built in the 60's, designed to be lightweight. All CCD cameras from that era had ghosts. (Just look at any old television episode transmitted live from the early days of television and you'll see what I mean). Considering how much light is reflecting off that flag, much more than you will get under our atmosphere, it's no wonder this film looks like that.

timrocket2008, if faking is the best way to win the space race, why create 13 Saturn V rockets? Why create an entire infrastructure for exploring space? Why manufacture all those Lunar Modules? And why did the Soviets congratulate the US?Japan didn't launch its first satellite until 1970! JAXA wasn't even formed until 2003! What are you talking about?
