It's top winds are short of hurricane strength though, and it's doing little more than soaking tourists on the town's beaches. (Aug. 5)Eduoard didn't show up for his hurricane party in galveston.. Instead coming ashore as a tropical storm..Although heavy rains fell for several hours early Tuesday there was no serious damage anywhere on the island..And believe it or not that was upsetting to some tourists who wanted to ride out a hurricane..(sot)Tia Stone/touristI'm disapointed it's not bigger I wanted more rain and wind and excitement(vo)Still it wasn't a nice day for a walk along sea wall boulevard... even the surfers were a little dispointed although the waves look big enough for this guy..By sunrise there were people all along the beaches trying to catch a glimpse of edouard, greg atkinson says he comes to all of the storms..(sot)We came down when the last hurricane came and it was a lot worse that's what I was expecting this time...(vo)This one though not as bad as some people feared, especially since the storm turned north and came ashore in an area that is not heavily populated..Even the winds never reached hurricane strength making eduaord little more than a summer thunderstorm...(standup)One of the things emergency officials were most concerned about is flooding in houston, it looks like the heaviest rains will pass to the north so that too is good news there..Rich matthews the ap galveston texas...
