your point is only half right. Yes we are dependent on technology to an extent. But only for activities that were not possible before that technology came about. An even simpler example is clothing. We are dependent on clothing to survive in many parts of the world. But only because as a species, we have a desire to live in areas we could not naturally survive in.All human technology is an enhancment, designed to aid us and make new aspects of life possible, and existing ones easier.

He's the "PR" guinea pig.... This technology has been around for decades, Warwick's sole purpose is to introduce it to the public. Stay tuned, there is much more to come. By the time these clowns are finished sugar coating it, the public will be lining up for it, just like they do for the latest video game consoles.. Let the fools be chipped, tracked, and programmed, as far as I'm concerned, anyone stupid enough to go that route is a dangerous animal that needs to be assimilated, and controlled.

6:25 Enhancement? I think not. "DEPENDENT" would be a better word to describe it, the cyborg will become the sub species, not the natural unaltered human. To prove my point, take cell phones for example. Most everyone can do this experiment themselves. Most people have had their cell phones for years. Take your cell phone, turn it off, and leave it in your night stand for week. See for yourself how dependent you have become on an external device that never even existed until around 20 years ago.

Just one data packet - someone else's chip, someone else's open source BCI and someone else's medical skills... can't see educated people buying his take on science. Evolution is not 'upgrading' your memory, it's biological mutation. Seems he's lost his marbles on biology as well. Imagine anti-virus for your head... no updates, you've got bugs! That's what Cpt. Cyborg is suggesting. Despite real cognitive research being decades away...How does he make his forecasts again? I would love to know.

And cyborgs won't take over the world. In fact, cognitive aspects of human communication today is too far off.Let's wait for Kevin Warwicks' progress. He can't even run a robot right and, just exhangegs a stupid data packet over the net, converts it to bioelectric signals with a software written by someone else (BCI) and he is the revolutionary...The chip is made by another company, the computer is from another so is the BCI,the surgeon puts in the chip and what is that Warwick does really?

I understand how strongly you feel, but my concern is merely that before we alter or start with our examinations of the human nervous system, we should make sure that there is a public debate over the issue. Legality and legislature be updated and the law, like it has done for IT and intellectual property, be updated.Warwick's attempts aren't science, they are publicity stunts. Unis such as Bath are serious, but Reading is struggling for intakes. You get the link?

I don't agree, Desi. He has ethics. They just aren't the same as those of the mass majority. Fairytales. Aren't all leaps of technological evolution based on fairytales? I mean really, to say the human nervous system is "too complex" just sounds like giving up to me. Fairytales turned the horse-drawn carriage into a car before science did. And the level of his workplace is simply irrelevant. Ideas do not discriminate upon location and class. If an idea's time has come, it will come.
