I'm an amateur player.Though to my amateur ears it still sounds like, while she has great technique and aesthetic to her playing, it has no soul. The sound just has no soul.

bobbycamp101 - Anyone can comment on YouTube. You might actually learn something new from someone who's been around longer than you. That you, and many others absolutely love her playing, well, good for you. Yes, she's superior to me (d'oh), but she doesn't hold a candle to Bream, Williams, Presti, Pierri, Gondrona, Segovia et al. They're in a class of their own due to their ability to take any score to a different emotional plane. She doesn't...yet.Condescension? No. Objectivity, yes.

I was commenting more on your condescending attitude to a guitarist that is far superior to you. And that you had the sack to not only critique her, but to offer speculative possibilities as to why she has fallen short in "artistic growth", is just a reflection of your own failure. examples of you condescension:1."it's obvious to those who've had long associations with classical guitar"2."Impossible to do this with her workload, and to the trained ear, it shows"

bobbycamp101 - The thing about Music is that anybody (guitarist, nonguitarist, musician, nonmusician, conservatory trained or not etc.) is entitled to comment. As long as music has an effect on you (that's most people) and what you say is backed by facts and sound reasoning, then that shouldn't be a problem. (BTW, I was on stage performing well before you were born, if that's what you need to know).

I'm sure in your head you are more than qualified to make these statements...

Yeah, I agree 60moo, Ana's playing's never inspired me. At this stage of her playing career, she'd benefit guitar lovers more if she developed a more emotional focus in her interpretations. There's more emotional output from a 14 year old Presti than there is from a 28 year old Vidovic. Why is this? She doesn't own any piece, in my book. Either she's plateaued, or the commercial exposure is more important for her than carving out an artistic niche.

I have to agree. I like his work, but as you said, to a trained ear, he is not exactly groundbreaking. Aestheticly, yes, musically, no.
