no they only entertain guests with poetry, art, and music and they also received gifts...but some people considered them prostitutes becuase After world war II when Japan was occupied by USA and Australian soldiers many Japanese prostitutes (who weren't geisha) referred to themselves as a Geishaso nope they aren't prostitutes~

The memoiars of a geisha movie are quite inexact (read lying to us), read the friggin' book that the movie SUPPOSEDLY is based on written by an ACTUAL geiko instead...
