part of the reason why he getting such great tone from an acoustic electric is because he is playing a taylor acoustic which are equipped with the taylor expression system. the system uses a series of liquid filled pick ups which are designed in such a way they re-create the true acoustic tones while plugged in. I have one, its beautiful

it is a great sound. it complements his voice well, too. i just don't know that i've ever heard an acoustic (or rather, an acoustic-electric) sound like that. i play acoustic-electric sometimes, and it doesn't sound nearly as good. looks like i'm gonna have to start looking at better amps...

Its an electro acoustic guitar. He's playing through an amp which gives it a more "plastic" quality for lack of a better word. It definitely makes it sound less steel and more processed. Its a great sound.

Mat Weddle is great! hes so awesome. haha. his voice doesnt seem to match his appearance at all. that was surprising. XD
