I should record his voice and use it as a cure for insomnia.

its good because in yoga we are meant to do just what we are able to do and work from there.

I have this video. Great for demonstration of how the primary series should be done, but not a good video for instructional purposes.

It may be from the Primary Series DVD but it's not the Primary Series. They are Sun Salutations, cosmokrama is totally correct - Primary(or whichever) Series begins after these and the standing postures.

Richard and Mary are fantastic. I highly recommend their teacher intensive. You won't get instruction like that anywhere...

Thank goodness for Yoga teachers such as Richard Freeman and Mary Taylor, his wife and co-teacher. They are two of a very limited group of Ashtanga teachers whom I would recommend to even my Yoga therapy clients for a classical, complete and safe classroom. What a treat to see this older video; thank you for sharing it here!

Richard does an excellent job directing the drsthi which is so often neglected in many Ashtanga videos. By far, he is the most focused and conscious of Ashtanga teachers around. Be thankful that you have this video instruction for free!

It really concerns me that people might be learning Surya A off of this clip... This is really poor instruction for anyone with any restriction, injury , or any beginner who doesn't already know whatthey're doing. Jumping back to plank is a terrible idea which puts tons of strain on the wrists, shoulders, and elbows. _Much_ better to step back to a low plank. you'll get stronger that way too!!
