Is Chiriqui mostly Indigenous? I saw pictures of Chiriqui and everyone was Indigenous. West Panama looks way different than the east Panama cities near Choco, Colombia where the Afros concentrate in Panama City and Colon. Where is Changuinola at?

I'm not trying to homogenize the black experience in Colombia just speaking about experiences that are often kept quiet about and denied, I know I am not the only person who has gone through what I speak about.

your panamanian friend is not the norm. Maybe he has been in the states too long. We celebrate black history in panama and panamaians embrace our african culture. Your frined is probably from chiriqui or somewhere. Defintely not from colon, panama city,or changuinola. Also,we're not jamaicans and I have lots of black american friends. Tell your friend not to tell anyone he's panamanian.

It's one thing to promote it but you have to realize that there are some who haven't experienced what you have.

To finish. Every persons pain is equally as important as the next. There will be those who deny your claims out of pure denial and there will be those that deny your claims because they have not felt it.However you cannot blame them for not seeing things like that. I talked to a couple of black colombian relatives of mines and black panamanians friends about predjudice in our countries and they told me i was stupid. It's not that they were denying your pain, they never felt it.

howdy it's cfG_23 from myspace. I see where you are coming from but i feel that it is a great benefit if we all try to find a middle path and live together on the same land. You should be happy for those who have not had the chance to face the same racism as you have. A large portion of my extended family is black in cali even though i'm almost white. No matter how white or black we are we all have suffered the pain of discrimination and are considered inferior. Look for unification.

I would have to disagree also. I have friends from buenaventura nad they tell me racism is terrible in colombia.

These individuals are very abusive and Colombia has some of the worst racism I've seen.

Greetings sister, I respect your opinion but I have to make this clear, that is your experience. My experience has been different, I've been verbally assaulted numerous times by white and near white Colombians for my African heritage.I am quite tired of people trying to deny my experiences when I do not deny theirs. It's like a woman being raped and then you tell her she didn't get raped because raping doesn't exist where she's from.
