Thank You for answering. Then the person I spoke to was in a mistake thinking Madeira has mild summers (38ºC is not mild for me).My parents are considering moving somewhere south when they retire but they don't endure extreme heats well.

Well about home costs in Madeira, it depends on the place the house is located. And it depends on many factors too . The island has a warm weather and the temperature is usually 23º . The temperature in Funchal can rise in the summer to the 38 degrees ( sometimes a little bit more ) and in the winter it can get 15 degrees at minimum .But the weather in Funchal is warm ( 23º) almost all around the year.

Does anyone know how much it costs to buy a home with a garden on Madeira??? :)I've heard the island has the mildest climate in Europe. How hot it gets in the summer there???
