The intermezzos of Cavalleria and Manon are easy and spontaneous music, but are so beautiful... They scent as a far lost youth.

i agree, but you have to remember that there is certainly a lot of dramatic license when conducting this piece because of the dramatic intent and inflection: this is the music for manon's trip to le havre, and how des grieux can't help her. he actually conducts it very well, adn you can tell he's feeling the music A LOT, but i agree that it was a little too fast. i mean, especially with puccini, there's more of a constant rit/rall, and he was conducting that section like some otello/aida mess.

I'm Sooooo ofended this intermezzo is SOOOOOOOO freaking rushed where the melody is, it kills everything to preceed the opera! Think what you may, for this intermezzo to speak it cannot be rushed at all. There is something in the legato line, even the upbeat part aroun 3:00 he even rushes that! It's a great orchestra nice sound, please no rushing!
