Sparta was a great state. Considering that it is the first known Democracy, it is argued that Sparta's Democracy was 100 years before Athens. And not to mention, that Women in Sparta had far more rights then other women, e.g. Education, some military training, and inheritance.I think you are the idiot.

They fought the Sacred Band during the battle you are talking about. The Sacred Band was a group of elite warriors that were practically feared all over Greece.And besides, Alexander, charged into the Sacred Band and utterly annihilated them. (Battle of Chroenia (sp?))
