Then the military and paramilitaries should drop their weapons.

there is ahuge difference between UP and m19 the m19 drop their arms and THEN they started a political career now they got 2 or 3 powerfull senators in the congress. In the other hand FARC NEVER droped their weapons, they started politics while they were armed. I hate what happened to UP but weapons must be droped to be a politic.

Warn her not to try organizing the private sector unless her insurance is paid up. But I am sure she already knows that. How many have been bumped off in the last year?

My aunt is a union member in the teachers union in bogota and shes very alive. Underpaid, sometimes not paid, but alive. She leads protests all the time for the teachers to get paid. But i guess someone from boulder colorado would know more.

You go and do something that is seen as a threat by ruling class interests there and see what happens -- start union organizing or something.

Too bad, out of my time zone. SAve some money and go visit Colombia. Take a little hike into the mountains South of Cali near Jamundi and show any FARC your American passport see what happens. Hell just speak english and see what they will do to you.

For someone who lived there, you don't seem to have paid much attention. I live in Boulder, CO.
