No, I don't think so. Liberace was a classically trained pianist who ventured into pop. Bobby was a jazz player through and through. Both are flamboyant pianists though - Liberace with his wardrobe and props and Enriquez with his unique playing style.

I met The Wildman in Chicago during the 1980s; he was gigging at a northside jazz buffet. I had been a radioman and played the album that he and Richie Cole did together; a version of Sweet Georgia Brown still rings in my soul. As long as we talk about Bobby, he is still here.

Would someone agree if I say that his style is very much similar to Liberace?

Nah, I don't think he died poor. Maybe just not as rich as a man of immense talent like he was ought to be. Anyway, I totally agree with you that he should be recognized by the government. Even if he's gone, I think a posthumous conferment as National Artist for music is in order.

toeeggertsen...Bobby Enriquez passed on, on August 06, 1996. He did play at the Hawaiin Hilton and you probably know some of my family members, too. I'm interested to find out. Take care!

you're so very welcome. i wish i could have a clearer video file of your uncle. i took this out of a betamax tape which i had. the person that can be contacted for the original file is Mr. Francis Lumen of the former FM jazz station 88.3. they sponsored this concert held at the EDSA plaza hotel in cooperation with NESCAFE....
