It's some 26 years since the war now, but still when you here the name "Falklands" it's probably the first thing that pops into your head. The military Junta in Argentina was actually being supported by the US right up to the conflict.When the military were planning the coup in 1976, the US know about it and Kissinger was warned that there would be a bloodbath with union leaders being murdered etc. Kissinger responded by saying that the military should be encouraged, not hindered.
