Look at the steam coming off these guys! Were they playing in 40 degree weather? How could they have enough dexterity in their fingers to play their instruments in that kind of cold?

dude. they can't even keep up with coltrane. the 65-67 group(s) were better fit to coltrane.

Try booker's 'That's it' record also. Horace Parlan on piano and they play 'poinciana' and 'speak low'. Coltrane is obviously way beyond everything else (in any art form, ever), but Booker was also a unique and singular voice. The 'tartness' of his sound has never really been approached by any tenor player i have heard. There are pitch-worlds only Booker Ervin has been to. The record with Dexter Gordon is pretty cool also.
