Giacomini's voice seems to overwhelm Milnes's. Too bad it isn't more attractive.

i have always adored Giacomo voice..especial in the Forza with Price. he is simply an ourtstanding spinto...Milnes sucks in this clip. he never was a dramtic Verdi baritone.. he over compensates..

I want to hit Milnes with a rotten egg . All of the yaowling. Giacomini's voice has gotten incredibly dark. Aboyt 8 or 10 yrs ago he released 2 CD's one of arias the othr of sacred music.

I really like the sincerity of Milnes' kiss at the end, with obvious collegial admiration for his colleague's wonderful interpretation. Not that Milnes wasn't wonderful, but for the tenor this thing is a killer...

For some reason I doubt that that is really the case. Giacomini was noted for being uneven. When he was on he was phenomenal, but if he was off it was pretty bad. He could tend to bellow a bit at times. Here, he's amazing. They both are. It's like two big cannons lobbing shots out at the audience.
