The 1980 movie "The Blue Lagoon" ended exactly like how the original novel of 1908 finished: "They are asleep" And return to the blue lagoon was inspired by the second novel "The Garden of God" And begin by: "they are dead" If you girls don't want to be sad about the ending, just imagine the two stories as "parallels worlds": one, they survived and the other they died. I am pretty sure back in 1908 Stacpoole didn't wanted to make a sequel... A piece of history.

I feel the need to set things right about this movie. First Henry deVere Stacpoole (author) wrote "The Blue Lagoon" in 1908. This was an instant success and the original ending was "They are asleep" letting the reader think by himself about the end.Then, in 1923 (15 years after the original release), Stacpoole wrote a sequel "The Garden of God" and DECIDED that both Dick (Richard) and Emmeline died and the second story begin. "The Gates of morning" was the final part after that.

how come i thoguht it was PG13? i found out it was R. hmm, for a movie like this to be R, and these kids to be like 14 or so ... woahh. lol, but they didnt turn out to be bad. lol. =] maybe . they should do a remakee like in a year or two
